HAMMER RESTORES DRACULA FOR 2012

UNIVERSAL STUDIOS' TRIBUTE TO BRAM STOKER 1-10-12
2012 marks the Centennial of Bram Stoker's death, and serendipitously, the Centennial of the birth of Universal Studios.
Universal is marking its 100th anniversary this year with a yearlong celebration of its cinematic legacy. Of great interest to fans of classic horror is the news that Universal will restore 13 of its classic films, including Dracula (1931), and Dracula Spanish (1931).
The film rights for Dracula were sold to Universal in 1930 by Bram Stoker's widow Florence and his son Noel, and the rest - as they say - is history.
“This is a proud moment for all of us who’ve had the privilege of working at Universal Pictures,” Ron Meyer, Universal Studios president and CEO, said in a statement. “Our centennial is designed to bring special memories back to longtime movie lovers and fans, and to engage new audiences with our extraordinary library of films for the first time. Our goal, 100 years later, is to preserve, restore and continue the iconic legacy of this studio for generations to come.”

"It will be taped and broadcast later," said director Steve Carlisle. “We are going to shoot it (on video) so it can be televised too,” he said. The show honors the 100th anniversary of Stoker’s death.
Welcome to 2012, year of the Black Dragon,
signifying the end of Hope, the beginning of Truth
....Still in the realm of fantasy, vampire fans will want to pause to say a "prayer for the undead" instead of the usual version, to commemorate the death in 1912 of Bram Stoker. He wrote Dracula, and created the world's most fascinating vampire. This suave blood-sucker became a mega-star, earning mega-millions from the 50 or so movie and TV versions that have been made.
Would it not be fun to have a retrospective of the best of the Dracula films, hosted by Christopher Lee, who is still alive and appearing in movies?
