The daughter of Arthur Douglas Braithwaite and Marjorie Hendrie of Hamilton, Ontario, was first married to Guy Melfort Drummond of Montreal, who was killed at Ypres in 1915. Their son, Guy Melfort Drummond was born later the same year. Her marriage in 1919 to Tom Thornley McGillycuddy Stoker produced three more boys.
