Jermyn Street — shirtmakers and St James’s
Jermyn Street adds the shops and everyday life of St James’s to the walk. Its shirtmakers and outfitters offer a contrast with the library’s reading rooms and Piccadilly’s fictional pursuit.
Bram worked in a world of theatre, dinners and formal dress, but we have not found a reliable record identifying a Jermyn Street shirtmaker as his supplier. We therefore do not label any shop “Bram’s shirtmaker”.
Enjoy the shopfronts and arcades as part of the neighbourhood. They belong to different dates: the present streetscape should not be assumed to reproduce the London of 1897.
View from public paths and pavements; use marked crossings and respect private entrances.
