We welcome enquiries from researchers, publishers, broadcasters, museums, creative partners, fans and general readers. We are keen to hear about corrections, new historical information and new content. About the Estate explains our purpose; Archives helps researchers locate original material.

Common questions

Where can I find Bram’s papers?

Start with Archives, which identifies libraries and collections holding letters, manuscripts and other material. Contact the holding institution about access and reproductions. Our own research capacity is limited.

How do I request an image or reproduction?

Tell us which portrait, letter, manuscript or object you need, where you saw it, how you plan to use it and your deadline. Permission and credit depend on the particular item and its holding collection. A picture appearing on this website does not by itself give permission to reuse it.

Can I submit an event?

Yes. Use Submit an event below the Events calendar. Read What we list, then provide the event details and the required photograph, caption and reproduction permission. Listing is free and subject to Estate approval.

Does a listing mean Estate endorsement?

No. An event listing provides information for visitors and does not mean that the Estate organises, sponsors or endorses it. We give very few official endorsements to publications, films, programmes, events or exhibitions.

What should a partnership enquiry include?

Outline the project, intended audience, territory, timetable and the kind of Estate involvement you seek. For exhibitions or loans, identify the proposed venue and dates and any particular material you would like to discuss. As Bram’s work is in the public domain, the Estate cannot pay for promotion of his work. Modern adaptations and promotional images may carry separate rights.

Where can I find guidance about using Bram’s work?

See Using Bram’s work for the distinction between the original works, later editions and adaptations, images, trade marks and uses suggesting an Estate association. If your question concerns a particular item or proposed collaboration, give us the details in the form below.

Can I send a correction or new historical information?

Yes. Tell us which page or claim you mean and provide the source, date, archive reference or other evidence where possible. Please distinguish documented information from a proposed interpretation.

Use the form below. We aim to reply within ten working days.
